In Memorandum

Lana Jean Thompson passed away today at 3:33 pm.

Lana's ventilator monitors detected that as of 2:30 this morning she was no longer able to breathe on her own. This means that she was now brain dead. Joe and the team of doctors and nurses made the decision to take her off life support per Lana's wishes. The many machines (except one which we believe was perhaps keeping her comfortable) where unplugged at 2:45 pm and it took 48 minutes for Lana's heart rate to slow before coming to a complete stop.

Funeral arrangement details to come.

Lana will be missed by a great many people who's lives she touched. We would love this blog to become a celebration of her life instead of a log of her suffering. Please email Joe or myself with your warm memories of Lana so that I can post them here for everyone to enjoy.

We love you Lana!

  1. I went to high school with Lana. I didn't know her real well, she was quiet and had a gentle spirit. I am sorry for your loss, she was so obviously loved by everyone, esp her family.

  2. Lana's secret ambition in high school was to own a little red sports car. Did she ever get her car? Her favorite song was Rambling Rose. Her pet peeve was American History. In high schol she went by Jean.
